Projects and partnerships among `actors` of the European cultural life can be easily brought to life when there is real and efficient communication. This simple and clear message was the basis of a summer workshop organized by ED Arges.
Nobody can doubt the paramount importance of mastering a foreign language. In an extremely rich, fertile and diverse cultural environment as the European one, efficient communication is the backbone of cultural cooperation and it definitively can maximize the potential for obtaining financial support.
This has been the main motivation for ED Arges to organize an intensive English course for employees in cultural institutions across Arges district. The target group was 27 women who work in public libraries across our district. The aim of this workshop was to gain specific knowledge and hands-on practice regarding cultural environment.
The workshop ran intensively over three weeks (24.08-11-09.2009) and it was focused on several different groups, according to participants` proficiency in the target-language – from Beginners to Advanced. The workshop was run by a volunteer – Ramona Serban, a young professional with a Degree in Education and qualified in Great Britain, with a great international experience in running and coordinating such activities in Romania and especially abroad.
We have thus achieved our goal to maximize the potential of using real, hands-on English communication skills and we truly desire to make European projects and partnerships easier to access in the near future. This workshop has been a true cornerstone for all the participants and we genuinely hope that everybody involved will carry on with their learning and language acquisition process and will continue to improve their level through personal drive and on-going perseverance.
